They have been blamed for isolating people and shrinking their circle of friends. But a new study has found that the Internet and mobile phones do precisely the opposite and actually enhance people’s social worlds. The Pew Internet and American Life Project, titled ‘Social Isolation and New Technology’, found that people who embraced the modern technologies had larger and more diverse friendship networks.
